Why Music? Why Now?

A confluence of 4 factors drove me to spend the next few weeks on Music and Entertainment:

  1. Music is almost a “need” – the demand is virtually inelastic.
  2. Its “supply chain” will be virtually untouched by the Coronavirus scare.
  3. Some companies that are dominating certain parts of the Music Value Chain (see below) have all the properties of being Global Dominators, with massive Moats.
  4. The Buylyst’s collection of Media & Entertainment analyses is getting old and needs a refresh.

The purpose of this worldview is to find investment ideas in the Music Industry.
